MIZKAN & NAKANO RICE VINEGARS

All rice vinegars are not created equal…

Our client, Mizkan, had two different product lines of rice vinegar: Mizkan (the namesake brand) and Nakano. Our job was to strategically pull them apart and prevent confusion among customers.

We started in the aisle. Mizkan is sold in the import aisle. Nakano is sold in the vinegar aisle. Mizkan is considered the gold standard for chefs and connoisseurs. Nakano, while still a quality product, is geared toward novice cooks looking to try some Asian recipes at home.

From here, we created different visual systems for the brands. Mizkan drew inspiration from Japanese heritage, while Nakano became a reflection of modern Asia.

Once each brand had it’s own visual identity, we created campaign elements for both brands, beginning with recipe shoots.
